If music be the food of love, play on!
That’s right, we’re bringing even more entertainment to the Gamtoos Valley.
There is no doubt that some of you may have attended one of our Sunday live performances over the last year or so. Our gigs are different and that’s how we like it. Our hosting of musical talent is much more intimate than your ‘run of the mill’ rock concert. We prefer to travel back to the roots of the artist, to be more old school, to host the kind of intimate gig where you can actually interact with the performers rather than just look on from a distance. This is exactly what makes Tolbos music events so special.
We’ve seen the likes of Gerald Clark, Herman Kleinhans & Bottomless Coffee Band grace out “stage”, we have enjoyed Verdubbel die geluk with Petronel Baard & Stef Kruger & more. After each performance, the artists often vow to be back because they fall in love with the valley and it’s people (and in some cases move here lock stock & barrel!).
Apart from being able to attend an awesome variety of shows right on our doorstep, we believe that this notion is one of the greatest benefits of inviting musical performers to come and play for us. Why you may ask? Because it means they will return home to the ‘Big City’ and tell more people about our hidden gem of a community and in doing so attract even more tourists to our gorgeous Patensie – and rightfully so! We are so blessed to call this wonderful place home.
The great news is that we have even more shows lined up & confirmed for your enjoyment – oh yes baby, it’s music all the way right up until Christmas here at Tolbos!
Without further adieu, herewith our lineup so far:
Sunday the 8th of July
The man who almost needs no introduction, Mel Botes, will provide the afternoon’s live entertainment.
Sunday the 23rd of September
Faraway George will come and blow us away with his youthful enthusiasm for both English and Afrikaans music. We fondly remember him bursting onto the scene with his 1st radio single “Nooit Te Laat” on Jacarada FM in June of 2016.
Sunday the 11th of November
We have the enormously talented pianist Rocco de Villiers gracing us with some amazing piano tracks. His latest CD, “ k o r t b r o e k, l a n g k o u s e “ is being released on the 13 of July and we are looking forward to enjoying many of the compositions live!
Sunday the 9th of December
Bad Peter will be livening things up for all of us. BAD PETER is an independent singer/songwriter duo made up of PG Badenhorst and Alwyn Bekker. Acoustic genius not to be missed!
Well there you have it, a few exciting dates to stick in your diary and we look forward to seeing you!
